Al Butler is a co-founder of the newly formed Tangent Creative Media – a media production and consultancy company. A Philly native and 20-year media veteran with a wealth of experience that cuts across a myriad of creative professions, heard on radio, seen on TV, read in print -, Albert Butler is best known for his 14 years as a talk radio host at 1340am WHAT and 900am WURD – working alongside radio legends Mary Mason, Reggie Bryant and Johnny Sample. Al B! covered a wide variety of subjects but had a strong focus on issues of injustice and police brutality. As a freelance writer, his pieces have appeared in Ebony.com, TheRoot.com, The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Philadelphia Weekly. He has also been a frequent guest on Fox29's Good Day Philadelphia and has made appearances on NPR and HuffPost LIVE. Albert served as the Communications Director for the Anthony H. Williams for Mayor Campaign.
Albert is a 1995 graduate of Hampton University and was hired by his alma mater as the school's first Women's Sports Information Director.
